96.7.64.1Description
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of three women on a beach at Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, ca. 1929. The group is posed with one kneeling in front and the others standing with their arms around each other behind the first. The woman who is kneeling wears a light-colored dress with a dark-colored sweater. Behind her is a woman in a light-colored short-sleeved dress and a wide-brimmed hat. In her right hand, which is raised near the level of her face, she is holding what appears to be a cigar. The third woman, standing at the right, has on a dark-colored bathing suit with a white belt and has a head covering of some kind. Around the group are items of clothing, a hat, shoes, a basket and other articles, including two bottles of drink. Behind the women the beach continues away from the water and, in the far background, is a large building, which was a hotel, in which Walter Temple was an investor. There is some significant water damage on the top edge of the image, hence it is in fair condition.
