Description

TILE RESTORER JOE GONZALEZ IN LA CASA NUEVA BARBER SHOP Color: Color A color photograph of tile restorer Joe Gonzalez in the La Casa Nueva Main Hall, ca. 1979. Gonzalez is at left kneeling just inside the doorway to the courtyard and pointing to a tile along the baseboard on the south side wall. To the left, in the background behind Gonzalez, is the doorway with the door open and a partial view of the flagstone walkway in the portico and the area where a replacement planter is being built. Around Gonzalez is part of the wood floor, which is in need of refinishing. The plaster wall above the tile at right and upper right appears to be in good condition, however. On the reverse upper left is a pencil inscription by a former museum curator reading "Source: Bill Kalnowski." At the lower left, in black ink, is the inscription "Tile man." With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
