TRAIN TRACK AND PIER ON CALIFORNIA COAST, 1920s
Color: Black; White
A photograph by E. C. Engelhardt of a railroad line somewhere on the California coast, 1920s. The view shows the main line on the right very near the shoreline and a spur track crossing to the left. A line of power poles is at the left and there is a small wooden wharf with a covered open-walled structure at the end. Down the track are some buildings, from one of which emits some smoke, but it cannot be discerned what the structures included. In the foreground is a man sitting on a heap of rocks near the spur line. In the distance at the left are a range of hills and there appear to be hills or mountains in the distance at the center and right. On the reverse center is a penciled number "17" with a circle drawn around it and underneath this is the photographer's stamped name. Aside from some minor yellowing to the paper, the item is in good condition.
