Description

TRANSLATION OF A DOCUMENT GRANTING JURIDICAL POSSESSION OF SAN CLEMENTE ISLAND, 13 JULY 1846 Color: Black; White A translation of a document granting juridical possession of San Clemente Island to Andres Pico and William Workman, 13 July 1846. The document notes that Judge Leonardo Cota and assistants Manuel Enriquez and Ignacio Coronel visited the island and conducted a survey of metes and bounds to complete one condition of the grant. The measuring of the island was also to assist the owners in preparing their map, which was another condition of the grant. The document was signed by the Cota, Enriquez, and Coronel. With staple holes and rust from the staple at the upper left, quarter folds, and some creases, the item is in good condition.
