Description

Two photos of three men on some grass and in a wagon crossing a stream, mounted on a stereoscopic card, ca. 1890s. The top view shows the men sprawled out on the lawn at what appears to be a residence. Two of the men are holding cats. Behind the group is a fence, some small trees and what seems to be an open field in the distance. The second photo includes the same trio in a wagon drawn by two horses stopped in the middle of a stream. Two of the men are holding rifles. The images are pasted onto the card, which had a "bird's eye" view of Pasadena, and which was taken by T. G. Norton of Pasadena, whose cartouche is on the back of the card. It is assumed that the two photos are from the same general area, but there are no identifying inscriptions or marks. With a small loss at the upper right, tears, rubbing, soiling, and foxing to the mount, and some fading to the images, the overall condition is fair.
