TWO UNKNOWN WOMEN AT LA CASA NUEVA'S ROSE GARDEN
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of two unknown women in La Casa Nueva's rose garden, ca. 1920s. A woman stands at the center bending down slightly to the right. She touches a rose stem with her right hand and wears a hat, dark-colored dress, and a coat which is lined with fur around the neck. The other woman stands with her back to the camera at the right. She wears a hat, dark dress, and holds a purse under the left arm. Many rose bushes are across the foregound. At the left of the back are trees through which the top of the Mission Walkway is slightly visible. At the right is the west lawn, a paved walk, and three round pillars. Behind these is a round planter, a row of bushes, and part of the home's perimeter wall. At the bottom of the back is a stamp that reads, "ANDERSON / Photo Service / EL MONTE." At the bottom right corner is the number, "31." The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With only a slight yellowing of the paper, the artifact is in good condition.
