Description

Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of two views of the La Casa Nueva Main Hall, ca. 1920s. The images are separate photographs photographed together. The upper image shows the southern part of the hall from near the Music Room doors. At the right is the southeastern corner with a dark wood side chair. At center is the door to the courtyard to the left of which is a light switch and lamp sconce. Over the arch in this doorway, draped over the stair rail, is a dark fringed shawl. On the far right is a portion of the stairs with the rail, balusters, and newel post and a few of the tiles visible. There is also a wooden post with carvings and what may be a frame at the extreme right, but they are not identifiable. The lower photograph is of the southern side of the hall taken from the northern end of the upper main hall. At left is the courtyard door with the black shawl hanging over it and, at right, the stairs with more of the tile visible than in the other image. At the top right is a small part of the upper main hall rail. On the reverse top in pencil is the inscription "La Casa Nueva - possibly after / the family left?" With little indication of damage or wear, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
