Description
A stereoscopic photograph of two women at the front entrance to Ansonia Apartments, Westlake Park, Los Angeles, 18 September 1927. Taken from across Sixth Street, the image shows the narrow gap between two wings of the complex leading to an entrance with a striped awning over double glass doors. The pair stand on the wide steps leading to the entrance and a variety of bushes and shrubs are at the front, as well. On the reverse is an ink inscription: "Ansonia Apartments from / West 6th St. / Los Angeles. / Sun. Sept 18 - 1927." The apartment building, which survives at the northwest corner of Sixth and Lake streets across from Westlake Park, was designed by Parkinson and Bergstrom and completed in 1916. With some warping, minor soiling, edge abrasion, and browning on the reverse, the overall condition is good.
