Description

A photograph of two women sitting on top of bails of hay taken at the Workman Homestead, California in 1912. The women are identified as Daisy and Mabelle. One woman holds the long reins of a two-horse wagon filled with bails of hay. Their sun hats are on the ground toward the right. There are two buildings made of red brick and have pitched roofs, also a portion of a wooden fence is visible toward the far left. It is possible the buildings were William Workman's winery structues created during the time he lived on Rancho La Puente. The buildings were later converted into an auditorium by Walter P. Temple approximately seven years after the photo was taken. With fading, discoloration, warping and stains from adhesive residue on the back, the object is in good condition.
