Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of an unidentified California mission. There is a building or buildings massed at the center with part of it having an arched portico and an end wall with a curved apex, surmnounted by a simple cross. Towards the background right appear to be some ruins of adobe walls and what may be an arched entrance hidden behind a tree. In the foreground is a lush garden with flowers, shrubs and busjes, as well as rock-lined paths. At the upper left is a large pepper tree, which blocks a good portion of the building. Given the size and paper thickness, it is possible this was a postcard or souvenir photograph, rather than one taken by a member of the Temple family. There is some surface soiling, perhaps mildew or mold at the upper right portion of the front and a small stain at the upper left of the reverse. The artifact, therefore, is in fair condition.
