Description

UNIDENTIFIED CHURCH, POSSIBLY A CALIFORNIA MISSION CHURCH Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of an unidentified church, possibly the Mission Dolores in San Francisco, developed March 17, 1932. The building is shown from one side, with the buttress-flanked entrance at the left, the three-story, domed roof bell tower, surmounted by a cross, at the center and part of the rear portion of the structure, including three square windows, placed high on the wall, at the right. There is a clay tiled, gabled roof. In the foreground is part of the street, on which the photographer was standing, a sidewalk, and a dirt or grass area around the church. At far left, in the background, are parts of some trees. On the reverse is a large stamp with the words "GENUINE KRYSTAL GLAOSS / GUARANTEED FOREVER" at the top, a silhouette of a bear on all fours in the middle, with the date "MAR 17 1932" within, and the words "BEAR PHOTO SERVICE" under the bear. At the top left corner is the stamped number "E44" crossed out and the penciled number "37" written underneath. There is some discoloration and staining at the upper left and right of the image, so the artifact is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
