Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of an unidentified mansion at the top of a hill, ca. 1920s. The two-story structure's main portion is at the center. On the latter's second floor is a balcony, and across the first floor is an arcade. This main section is flanked by towers, with two more being on the far left and right. The roofs of the towers and of the entire building are shingled. There are also many French windows on the towers and throughout the structure. Across the front of the mansion is a stone wall. Many plants, pines, and palm trees are along the wall closest to the camera. Across the foreground is a large lawn. At the right of the foreground is some kind of farming implement which appears to have been tipped on its side. On the back is a blue stamp for Anderson Photo Service which was in El Monte. The image was housed in Agnes Temple's photo album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With some water damage and stains along the top, the artifact is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
