Description

Color: Blue; Red; White "United Cigar Stores Premium Catalog," issued by the United Cigar Stores of America, Inc., July 1928. The 48-page artifact has a paper cover with a red border around the front and a shield at the center. On the shield is the title in white. Around this are color drawings of many types of goods offered by the company. At the back is a color advertisement for Gillette Safety Razors. The catalog begins with mailing and rebate instructions, a guide to the catalog, and a list of smokers' articles redeemable with the company's certificates, some of which were inside the artifact and are items 94.19.1.31-.36. Merchandise available includes clocks and watches; hosiery and underwear; umbrellas; smoking paraphernalia; jewelry; leather goods; playing cards and poker chips; stationary supplies; toilet articles; toys; sporting equipment; glassware; tableware; and kitchenware and appliances. There are many black and white illustrations. With light discoloration and fading on the cover, the object is in good condition overall.
