Description

Universal Scissors: A pair of silver-colored metal universal scissors with leather sheath manufactured by E.V. Klever, Jr. in Solingen, Germany. The universal scissors had many functions including: a ruler, wire and tube cutter, buttonhole adjuster, nail file, screw driver, lid opener, tack hammer, pen knife, cutting glass wheel, paper or dress pattern marker, and others. For these functions there are small wheels, flattened portions, grooves, holes, and ruler markings. See marks/inscriptions for identification markings. The leather sheath is plain and without ornamentation. The sheath is in poor condition with much wear, fading, and loose sections where the opening is. The scissors are in fair condition with tarnishing and residue. Donated by George Wheatley. On one edge of the scissors is, "O.K. UNIVERSAL" and on the other edge, "PATENT APPLIED FOR" and, barely visible, "MADE IN GERMANY."
