Description

Color: Black; White A University of Santa Clara envelope that contained photographs of the funeral of John H. Temple, postmarked 15 April 1926. The stationery has the university name and city in red letters at the top left. The stamps from the top right were removed, but the postmark with its date and location of Santa Clara is next to where the stamps had been. At the center, in Thomas Temple's hand, is the address to his father, Walter P. Temple, and the address "Workman Homestead / Puente, Calif." To the right, in the hand of Thomas Temple's widow, Gabriela is the inscription "John Temple / Funeral / W.P.'s brother / in photo album / I gave to Ralph," this latter being Ralph Temple, son of Edgar Temple. The inscription probably dates to the 1970s or 1980s. These photographs were mailed from Thomas to his father, after they were taken by Thomas at the funeral and then developed in northern California. These photographs were removed and cataloged as items 48.5 through 48.15 of this accession. With the flap missing, tears along the top, creases, discoloration, dented corners, and acid burns, the condition is fair.
