Description
University of Southern California football player Jesse Hibbs, 28 November 1928. The image shows Hibbs in a high kicking motion on what appears to be a pratice field. In the background is another player and portions of houses in the distance. Typed on the reverse is "JesseHibbs [sic], captain, All-American tackle, U. of Southern California." Hibbs' name is also written in the pencil and there is a date stamp, as well. Hibbs, an offensive tackle, went on the work in Hollywood as an assistant director and, in the 1950s, as a director, later moving to television directing. There was an exposure problem in the original taking of the image and some edge rubbing and light soiling, but the overall condition is good.
