Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of an unknown girl in a pedal car, ca. 1920s. The child sits in the car which is on a dirt area at the center and faces the camera. She wears a short-sleeve dress and has the right hand on the toy's steering wheel and the left on a bar which is at the side. The metal vehicle has a bell at the front of the hood; an emblem within a circle at the front; a liscence plate at the bottom of the front; four metal wheels with rubber lining; and a small truck bed at the back. On the side are the words, "CITY FIRE DEPT." Across the background is tall grass, a barbed-wire fence, and utility poles. At the far right is a palm tree. At the center of the back is a stamp that reads, "ANDERSON / Photo Service / EL MONTE." At the bottom left corner is a stamp with the number, "16." The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With some soiling and yellowing of the paper, the artifact is in good overall condition.
