UNKNOWN MAN WITH HUNTING EQUIPMENTEntry/Object ID
96.7.76.3Description
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of an unknown man posed with hunting rifles and a rifle sheath, developed 28 August 1928. The man wears a heavy hunting jacket, wears a hat, and jodhpur-like trousers and high boots. In his hands he holds a rifle case or sheath, horizontally across his body. Resting vertically on the ground and against the sheath and, in two of them, held by the man's fingertips, are three hunting rifles. In the background is what appears to be a large outbuilding, such as a garage or a storage building with windows available, but it is dark and hard to discern details. Fading of the image also affects the ability to make out other details. It is assumed the man was a friend of the Temples and that the photo was taken in southern California. At the reverse, a little below the center is a stamp reading "ENAMELO / SEP 7 1928 / WEBBS." Another stamp at the lower left is of the number "126." Webb's was a drug store in San Jose. Because of the fading, some acid staining on the reverse and some stains on the front lower edge, the object is in fair condition.
