A black and white reproduction photograph of an unknown woman, ca. 1870s, taken in 1995. The image is a head-and-shoulders studio portrait with the woman at the center. She rests her left hand on a fur-covered surface which is at the left, but her head is turned to the right. She wears a dark-lace shawl on her head and shoulders. A medallion is clipped to the shawl at her left shoulder. Visible under the shawl is a white-lace collar. Among her jewelry she wears earrings and a choker is around her neck. A medal hangs from the choker. A ring is on her left index finger. Written in blue pencil on the top left corner of the back is, "RALPH / CAROL TEMPLE COLLECTION / MAY 1995." Contact sheets for the image are items .35-37 with the negatives being items .2.1-.17. The artifact has no visible signs of damage or wear and is therefore in good condition.
