Description
UNKNOWN WOMAN IN COSTUME AT THE HOME OF CHARLES TEMPLE
Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of an unknown woman in costume at the home of Charles Temple, ca. 1930s. The woman stands at the center with her body turned to the left and her head towards the camera. She holds castanets in her right hand with that arm up in the air, and holds the side of her flower-pattern dress up with her left. She wears a flower in her hair, bracelets, and flat shoes. The stone walk on which she stands is in a dirt area with a palm at the left of the foreground and a row of bushes across the back. The home is at the center and right of the back and has a ceramic shingled roof; a window on the left under which is a planter; and a large window at the center with a carved wood gate. Among the haze at the left of the background is a house on a hill. The photograph was housed in Agnes Temple's album which is item 96.7.94.1 along with many other photographs which span 96.7.1.1-.93.1. Contact sheets 2000.159.1.1-.8 show the original positioning of the images within the album. With awter damage stains along the top, the artifact is in poor condition.
