Description

UNKNOWN WOMAN STANDING UNDER A DRUGSTORE AWNING Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of an unknown woman standing under a drugstore awning in an unknown town, developed 7 September 1928. The woman wears a knee-length pleated skirt, a blouse with elbow-length sleeves and a cloche hat. In her hands, held in front of her is a light-colored purse or bag. The awning is at the upper left and has the lettering "DRUG CO" on the front and right sides, as well as part of a candy advertisement hanging from the underside. In the background is a street and portions of business buildings with cars parked in front of them. It is assumed that the woman is a schoolmate of Agnes Temple and the location may be San Rafael, near Dominican College where Agnes attended school. On the reverse center is a stamp reading "ENAMELO / SEP 7 1928 / WEBBS." Another stamp at the lower left is of the number "143." Webb's was a drug store in San Jose. Other than slight staining at the upper right of the front, there is little evidence of wear or damage and the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
