UTTER AND SONS MORTUARY BUILDING, ALHAMBRA, FEBRUARY 1997
A black and white photograph of the Utter and Sons mortuary building, 345 W. Main St., Alhambra, February 1997. The structure is at left, a one-story Spanish colonial revival style building, with a gabled, tiled roof, covered entrance with three arches and white plastered walls. In front is a row of hedges and several shrubs. Over a square window at far left in faded letters is "INCOME TAX." The building, constructed at the corner of Main Street (seen in the foreground) and Fourth Street in 1924 by the Temple Estate Company and razed a few days after this image was taken, was the home of the Utter and Sons mortuary. At right is an empty lot, which was the site of the Temple Theater (1921), demolished in 1990, and the western end wall of the Temple Building (1926), razed in February 1997. The photo, a slight close-up of 97.38.10, is in mint condition. None
