Description

Negative, Photographic: A black and white photographic negative of a page from an unidentified book showing four early twentieth-century Valentine's Day postcards. The four form a series, showing a young boy and girl with variations of rose motifs, ribbons and bows, and, in two cases, landscape scenes and the words "To My Valentine" on each card. At the bottom of the negative is this wording: "Simple, colorful and inexpensive, postcards all but succeeded in replacing the traditional valentines in the early 1900s. This rare embossed 'installment' card is from Germany." The source of the image is not known. The negative is in good condition with no discernible wear. None Number-Units: 1
