Description

VERIFICATION OF MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE FOR GEORGE WORKMAN AND MARIA CORDERO, 1930 A certificate verifying the marriage of George Workman and Maria Cordero, 21 January 1930. Signed by Felix Rossetti, Assistant Pastor of the Our Lady of Sorrows rectory in Santa Barbara, the document affirms that the marriage took place on 25 June 1873 and gives the names of the officiant; the Vicar-General who granted a dispensation authorizing the nuptial; and the two witnesses. A notation at the bottom acknowledges a spelling variation on the last name of one of the witnesses. George Workman is not a relative of the Workman family associated with the museum. The document is on the stationery of the rectory and provides the address and phone number of the institution. There is a seal at lower left. In fair condition, the document has two folds; a tear at the upper right corner; numerous creases; discoloration; particularly along the edges; and some small stains on the reverse upper right. None.
