Description

Color: Black; White A Victor Record Catalog, issued by The Victor Talking Machine Company, 1928. The front cover has the title and date at the upper center and the company logo of Nipper the dog listening to a Victrola horn at the bottom. On the back are facsimiles of record labels that denote the company's new "Orthophonic Recording" process. Inside is information about company recordings and the catalog, including instructions on how to use the catalog. A section in helping to choose one's first records follows, providing different musical genres as a quick way to learn and use the catalog. After this, listings begin by alphabetical arrangement by musician, song or piece titles, style, and other means. This method of organization is repeated on the Red Seal label section, which is denoted by the red (or pink) pages toward the back. After this is a section of blue pages, described as historic recordings, but the process of orthophonic electrical recording was used to update the sound. At the end is a list of composers. There are some photograph illustrations of artists throughout. With cover corner abrasions, spine tears and losses, creases and soiling on the covers generally, adhesive tape with a price and initials on the title page, and some soiling on page edges, the overall condition is good.
