2013.816.1.1Description
"View from Lake Vineyard, B.D. Wilson's, San Gabriel. 4420," Carleton Watkins, ca. 1878. The image, from Watkins' New Series, takes in some of the landscape to the south of Wilson's home, including the trunk of a tall tree, some bushes or shrubs in the foreground, a picket fence at the bottom of the small hill, some pepper trees, and what maybe the lake, now at Lacy Park, at the top right. Lake Vineyard, the name for Wilson's property, is now within the city of San Marino. With small stains, soiling and abrasions, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
