Description

VIEW OF THE HOMESTEAD FROM THE SOUTHWEST, CIRCA 1927. A black and white reproduction photograph of the Homestead from the southwest, circa 1927. Seen in the distance, from left to right, is the second floor and the roof of La Casa Nueva, with the southern elevation of the mission walkway in front of the home; the upper portion of the Workman House; and the roof of the Water Tower. In the background, from left to right, is a series of trees, with a man seen at left center, an adobe kiln, a one-story flat-roofed building (said to be the laundry room), the old Workman wineries, then the auditorium and the dining hall with a large wooden pole near the dining room, and part of the garage. In the foreground the field is rather barren, with some leafless trees pictured, suggesting the photo was taken in winter. From a negative owned by Ruth Ann Michaelis. In mint condition. None Number-Units: 1
