Description

Color: Black; White A letter from W. R. Covert to John H. Temple, 4 May 1891. The two-page missive, on the stationery of Findlay College, with which Covert was associated, concerns the granting of Alcatraz Island to William Workman and its subsequent disposition. It was apparent Covert and Temple did not know each other and the former offered to provide a copy of the original grant to Temple if he wished. The document was typed in blue with Covert's signature in blue ink. Some of the ink from the bottom one transferred onto the bottom of page two because of water leaching through. Aside from this, there are pest holes, folds, tears, creases, surface soiling, and small stains on the document, which is in poor condition.
