Description

WALKWAY AT EAST ENTRANCE TO THE MISSION WALKWAY BEFORE REPAIRS Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of the walkway at the east entrance to the Mission Walkway before repair work commenced, ca. October 1979. The photographer stands looking to the east toward the Workman House. The walkway has some loose pavers and is very uneven looking, as if there had been settlement in some areas and raising in others. Above the center is a circular planter about 2 feet in diameter and it has a wood stake lying in it, as well as a paver that came loose from a space next to the planter. To the left and right are portions of the planting areas next to the grape vines and, at the left, is part of the red fire alarm box. In the background is the center driveway with wood and other debris on it and directly across from the aforementioned walkway is the new adobe walkway at the back of the workman House extending to the western gate. A brief portion of the Workman House is in the background at the upper left. At the bottom of the object in blue ink is the inscription "East Walk To Temple / To be Raised & Redone." Although some of the ink is smeared here, the appears to be little indication of wear or damage otherwise and the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
