Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of the walkway leading to La Casa Nueva from the southeast Mission Walkway gate, 1940. The photographer stood near the gate so that two of the arbor columns and the beam ends are at foreground left and right. The flagstone walkway, bordered by boxwood hedges curves to the eastern side of the La Casa Nueva courtyard. On the right of the walkway is one of the original adobe planters and around it flowering plants, shrubs, and tall bushes or small trees next to the house. To the left is a grass area, the branches and leaves of a tree and, in the background, part of the west wing. Note the dual windows at the top of the east wing dormitory and a flue or vent pipe at the end of the roof. On the reverse upper right is the pencil inscription "66% / 2A / Terri," while at lower left is the black pen inscription "0 - 170 / 16 - 185." These, evidently, are instructions for reproduction. With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
