Description

Color: Blue; Silver Wallace Silver Plate flatware catalog F-25 issued by the R. Wallace and Sons Manufacturing Company, 16 pp., 1925. The paper cover has circular designs in blue as a background, over which, at the top, is a silver panel with a two-handled basin at the upper center, scrolls flanking it and a vine design at the bottom, these latter parts in green. Within the panel is "WALLACE / SILVER / PLATE." At the bottom is a smaller panel with floral designs on the ends and the words "CATALOGUE F-25" within. The inside front cover has the title, company name and main office, factory, and branch sales office locations. Product offerings begin on page 1 and include the following patterns: Astor; Buckingham; Hostess; Athena; Alamo; Dorothy Q; and Hudson. Each has a color image of scenes that hearken back to Wallace's founding in 1835. Photographs of products are accompanied by listings of type (spoons, knives, forks, ladles, carving sets and cutlery) and prices per set, usually six-piece, as well as individually. There are also offerings of combinations packaged in blue velvet-lined gift boxes for small sets and chests for large, though the last four listed lines do not offer chests. There are some stains on the exposed corners of some pages; creases, often quite large; evidence of pest damage on some pages; and surface soiling and edge wear on the covers, so the artifact is in fair condition.
