Description

Walter and Edgar Temple's bedroom, Governor Dummer Academy, Byfield, Massachusetts, ca. 1926-1929. Seen at the far left is Walter Jr., and a school friend named Norman Smith sitting next to him on the bed. The view takes in the younger Temple brothers room during the time of their Dummer Academy attendance. There are pennants hanging from the wall with one from San Diego, chest of drawers, a heater a the far left background. On the reverse is a lengthy inscription, written by Walter Jr., talking about the use of their pullman beds, sacks of walnuts on the far left most likely from their father's walnut trees. Wally also mentions the framed photo of Edgar's future wife, Rose Achain and the beads around the frame which were purchased in Arizona made by a Native American person and the ball their friend, Norman is holding was given to Edgar or Burt after a Sanborn game. With minor warping, writing in black ink, moderate silvering on the top left, and bottom of the photo with darkening of the image in other areas, it is in fair condition.
