Description

WALTER P. AND THOMAS W. II TEMPLE IN FRONT OF THE WATER TOWER Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of Walter P. and Thomas W. II Temple in front of the Water Tower, ca. 1924. This image is a copy-stand made photograph of the original on a neutral background with the original image measuring, in this print, 2 1/2"H x 3 1/4"W. Walter Temple, at left, wears a dark colored sweater, trousers and shoes, white shirt, and dark tie, and holds a light-colored cap in his right hand. Thomas, at right, wears a light-colored three-piece suit, white shirt, dark-colored bow tie and dark shoes and has his right hand at his father's left elbow. In his left hand he holds an unidentified object to his chest. They stand on Evergreen Lane, the driveway from Turnbull Canyon Road to the cemetery with a black automobile behind them, facing toward the west. At the right is the entrance to the Water Tower, consisting of two large cement pillars and dark-colored wooden gates, like those found today around La Casa Nueva. Resting against the eastern pillar are two millstones, one of which may be in the La Casa Nueva courtyard fountain. Through the gate can be seen a small part of the pump house roof and east wall, while in the background are portions of palm trees and, down the road, in the distance some of the trees that line the lane. With no indications of wear or damage, the image is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
