Color: Black; white
An engraving of the Walter P. Temple family, done by E. G. Williams & Bro. for the American Historical Society, ca. 1920. The image is 6 1/2"H x 4 3/4"W in a box border on a large piece of paper and is from the 10 October 1919 session of photos by George Steckel. Walter P. Temple, Jr., left, Edgar A. Temple, center, and Thomas W. Temple II, right, are in dark-colored military school uniforms with black trim and embroidered detailing and black shoes. Agnes E. Temple, second from left, wears a white dress and hose; dark shoes; and a white bow in her hair. Laura Temple, third from left, has on a dark-colored dress with white lace front and white high-buttoned shoes. Walter P. Temple, Sr., second from right, has on a light-colored three-piece suit; white shirt; light-colored tie; and white shoes. The image was engraved for John Steven McGroarty's "From the Mountains to the Sea" history of southern California, published in 1921. Since John H. Temple, son of F. P. F. Temple, provided information to McGroarty for biographical sketches of himself and other family members, it is assumed this belonged to him, though unlike the others in the series, this image was not used because no biographical sketch of Walter Temple appeared in the book. There is large liquid stain at the lower right corner of the image; dented and torn corners; creases; and some discoloration, so the object is in fair condition.Lexicon
