Description

WALTER P. TEMPLE, JR. AND NELLIE DIDIER AT MISSION SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO Color: Black; White A photograph of Walter P. Temple, Jr. and Nellie Didier next to an archway at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, ca. 1928. The couple, stands next to a deteriorating column which has lost much of its plaster veneer, exposing the adobe and mortar beneath. Walter, Jr. is at left, wearing a short-sleeved white dress shirt, a dark tie, and dark trousers. Nellie wears all white, or another light color, including a calf-length dress, overcoat, cloche hat, and heeled shoes. In the foreground is a wide pathway, while in the background is a garden with shrubs, bushes, and small trees. In the far background is part of the mission buildings, including a section with a tiled roof and an arched portico in front. Only the top of the building, however, can be discerned because of the landscaping. On the reverse top center is an oval stamp with the name of Anderson Photo Service in El Monte and the number "8" is stamped at the lower left corner. There is some serious water damage and stains from mounting corners at the top edge, rendering the object in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
