Description

WALTER P. TEMPLE, JR. AT THE NORTH SIDE OF LA CASA NUEVA Color: Black; White A black and white reproduction photograph of Walter P. Temple, Jr. at the front of La Casa Nueva, ca. 1920s. Temple leans on his right elbow on the porch wall at the right. He wears a light-colored shirt and pants. To the left is a ladder and to the right, on the porch steps, is a paint can and other items. The plaster designs on the wall, such as the cactus and grapes, appear to be painted several different colors. The north wall of the two-story adobe home is across the background. The building has such architectural elements as a tile roof; an iron balcony over the front door; plaster designs around the front door; screen doors with carved designs; and a wood balcony at the second floor at the top left. The balcony's balusters, as well as the iron balcony outside the Music Practice Room doors, had yet to be added. The plaque which was installed in memory of Laura Temple is at the far left of the first floor. The area at the foreground is dirt except for a palm tree at the center and some weeds. At the far right of the background is part of the red tile on the Mission Walkway. Negatives for the images in the accession are items .2.1-.10. The artifact is in good condition with no signs of damage or wear. Number-Units: 1
