WALTER P. TEMPLE, JR., THOMAS W. TEMPLE II, LA CASA NUEVA, AND TEPEE
Color: Black; White
A black and white negative of Walter P. Temple, Jr. at the front of La Casa Nueva, Thomas W. Temple II and Luis Fatjo at the courtyard, and the Tepee from the north, ca. 1920s. The strip has five images numbered 18-22 from right to left, with 18-19 of Walter, Jr. at the north side of La Casa Nueva. Temple, who wears slacks and a long-sleeve shirt, stands by a ladder and leans against the home's front porch wall at the right. The adobe home is across the back and has such elements as a tile roof, French doors, balconies, and iron light fixtures. The baluster to the Master Bedroom balcony, which is at the top left, is missing. Much debris and dirt cover the ground at the bottom of the foreground. Images 20-21 are of Thomas W. Temple II with Luis Fatjo and an unknown man at the center of the unfinished courtyard. The men, with Temple at the center, look towards the west portico of the home. There are potted plants and patio furniture under the porticos, at the left and right, and much of the home is complete, except for the second floor balcony baluster and surrounding landscaping. The Tepee, which is at the bottom left in image 22, is seen from atop the west patio of La Casa Nueva's second floor. Around the structure are trees and across the back is the Mission Walkway. Some of the valley is visible through haze in the distance. Images for the negatives are in the accession as items .1.1-.28 with a contact sheet being item .29. The artifact is in good condition with no signs of wear or damage.
