Description

Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of Walter P. Temple, ca. 1925. Temple is standing in the center with his arms at his sides and facing the camera. He wears eye glasses, a dark suit, a light shirt, and a vest. At his feet is dirt and grass, with some scattered pieces of wood and construction debris. In the back center are the arched wood doors on the east side of the Living Room in La Casa Nueva. The door is raised a few inches off the ground and has wood paneling near the bottom. The panel on the left features a carving with a shield in the center capped by a crown, and surrounded by a vine. Temple covers the panel on the right. Around the door is a portion of the home's thick adobe walls. On the upper left of the reverse is an inscription in blue ink reading "Temple mansion / Living Room Doors / to East Garden / 1 1/2" Scale." Below this in pencil in two different hands is "Walter Temple / Mel Gooch." With tears at the lower left and bottom left edges and many creases, the artifact is in fair condition. Number-Units: 1
