Color: Black; White
A black and white photograph of Walter Temple and others on the Tepee porch, ca. 1928. The photographer stood in the dirt area to the east of the structure and next to the Mission Walkway. Most of the Tepee is visible, including the pole and thatch porch cover. Walter Temple stands at the right next to one of the support poles. He wears a dark overcoat and hat and appears to hold a cigar in his left hand. Next to him is Maud Bassity, wearing a white Mexican-style shawl. Seated in chairs below Bassity are two unidentified women, also dressed in costume, including shawls, sarapes and headdresses. Standing on one of the porch steps appears to be Doris Romero, niece of Maud Bassity, wearing a sombrero and wrapped in a sarape. At left may be Manuel Higuera, an employee on the ranch, also wearing a sombrero and sarape. To the left and in the background are the south and west sides of the Mission Walkway with grape vines on the inside (they are all now on the outside) planted next to the columns. Two of the adobe planters are visible, one near the Tepee and the other at foreground right. It appears that the dirt area in the foreground leading to the Tepee may be planted with grass seed. On the reverse is the word "VELOX" stamped throughout the paper; with the number "2963" stamped at center and the pencil inscription "B-1" at upper right. Other than some surface soiling and light discoloration, the object is in good condition.
