Description

WALTER TEMPLE STANDING NEAR LA CASA NUEVA UNDER CONSTRUCTION Color: Black; White A black and white photograph of Walter P. Temple standing near the western side of La Casa Nueva, ca. 1924. Temple is at center standing on a long piece of board, wearing a white shirt, light colored pants, and holding a hat in his left hand. Behind him is part of the house, where the Music Room, Library, and Thomas' Bedroom and adjoining bathroom were located, with the unplastered adobe walls; uncovered door and window openings, and, in the foreground, dirt, wood and a pile of what may be sand. It is evident, from other photographs, that the photograph was taken about 1924, possibly the year before. On the reverse is a penciled inscription "Where is / this? Can't / place it / can you?" At the upper right corner, a penciled inscription by a former museum curator reads "Brown." A photographer's ink stamp "A12" is at the lower left. There are no signs of wear or damage and the object is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
