WATER TOWER AT THE WORKMAN HOMESTEAD FROM THE SOUTH
Color: Black; White
A black and white negative of the Water Tower at the Workman Homestead, taken from the south, ca. 1925. The photographer stood next to the auditorium, formerly a winery of William Workman, which is partially on the right, including the awning-covered front entrance and the steeply-pitched roof. To the foreground right is part of a concrete-bordered planter with a palm tree and other plantings. The Water Tower is slightly left of center and notable is the access to the small deck at the apex at the south side, which was changed to the north in restoration; the wooden tank at the third floor screened deck; and the open window on the second floor, where the back of a chair is visible. Parked in front of the tower is a large black automobile, with at least the driver and, perhaps a passenger in the back, visible. Around the tower are more palm trees and what appear to be vines growing on fencing. In the background, to the right of the tower, is part of the east side of the Workman House, including the upper part of the southeast wing. With little indication of wear or damage, the artifact is in good condition.
