WATER TOWER FROM THE SOUTH NEAR THE AUDITORIUM
Color: Black; White
A black and white negative of the Water Tower from the south near the auditorium, ca. 1924. The photographer, possibly Thomas W. Temple II, stood on the dirt plaza just to the east of the auditorium. The water tower is just left of center and its southern end is completely visible. Notable features, include the flagpole with weathervane; the trap door and access at the south end of the roof (the restoration moved this access to the north in the reconstructed roof); the wooden water tank on the third floor; and curtains in the south second-floor window, through which part of a chair back is seen. A black sedan is parked in front of the gate with at least one person in the vehicle. Several small palm trees and vines on the wire fence are in front of and around the tower. Behind the structure at the right is part of the eastern end of the Workman House, while at the left can be viewed a portion of the courtyard greenhouse. At the foreground left is the canpoied entrance and part of the wall and cornice of the roof of the auditorium. At foreground right is part of the concrete planter with bushes, shurbs, and a small palm tree. Being newly created, the artifact is in mint condition.
