Description

WATER TOWER UPPER DECK ORIGINAL JOISTS AND WOOD PEGS Color: Brown; Green A color polaroid photograph of the floor joists, ribs and wood peg fasteners for the original upper deck of the Water Tower, before demolition of the deck supports, 5 April 1977. The close-up shows a section of the supports for the old floor, with joists and ribs and, at two attaching points of ribs and joists, are paired wooden, square peg fasteners at each point. There are indications of some significant damage to the wood, including termite infestation and debris is quite noticeable. A mass of dark green at the upper right corner appears to be leaves from an oak tree, so it is assumed this view is near an edge of the tower. At the bottom of the artifact is a pencil inscription reading "Watch Tower 4/5/77 / showing wood Peg Fasteners." With little indication of wear or damage, the object is in good condition.
