Description
WATER TOWER UPPER DECK RECONSTRUCTION, FRAMING OF DECK
Color: Brown
A color polaroid photograph of the reconstruction of the upper deck of the Water Tower, 26 May 1977. Taken from the southwest, the image shows the entire top section of the tower being reframed with basic wood supports and ribs for the roof in place for the covered deck, though the smaller deck on top of the tower is not yet framed. Though heavily shadowed, the lower portion of the tower is covered with metal-frame scaffolding and it is not likely any work to this section was then being done. Surrounding the tower are sycamore and oak trees, while the historic San Gabriel palm near La Casa Nueva is at left. In the lower left corner is the northeastern corner of the Pio Pico Gallery. An ink inscription at the lower part of the object reads "Framing in progress / 5/26/77." In good condition, the object shows little indication of wear or damage.
