Description

Color: Brown A color polaroid photograph of the restored upper deck of the Water Tower, 12 July 1977. Taken from the southwest, the image shows the deck at the center, completely rebuilt and painted. The flagpole and weathervane were not, as of yet, put in place. Around the walls of the first two levels are metal-framed scaffolding with wood plank catwalks. Wood rails and supports just below the floor level of the upper deck indicate that work was just completed there. Because of the scaffolding, it cannot be ascertained if the lower sections had been restored. At the lower left corner is a portion of the pump house, presumably the rebuilt structure. Some of the sycamore and oak trees that surround the Water Tower are on both sides. At the lower part of the object is an ink inscription reading "WATER TOWER- upper observation / Deck Finished. 7/12/77." Asdide from surface soiling on the reverse, the artifact shows little sign of wear or damage and is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
