"We" by Charles A. Lindbergh. (Reprint ed., New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1928), 318 pp. A hardcover book, without a dustjacket, the cover is blue with gold lettering. On the front is the title at the top, with an image of Lindbergh's "Spirit of St. Louis" airplane below and the author's name at the bottom. The title, author's name and publisher's name are on the spine. The inside of the covers and the end papers are blue with images of the "Spirit of St. Louis" repeated throughout each. An inscription in white ink on the inside front cover reads "Robert Brown / March 29, 1928 / From / Marion." Stamped on the inside front cover and front end paper is information for another owner, James R. Brown, presumably a relation of Robert Brown. A foreword on Lindbergh's achivement is by U. S. Ambassador to France Myron T. Herick, dated 16 June 1927. The work is a biography of the famed aviator with chapters on his childhood; his first flights and airplane; his barnstorming career; training and receiving his pilot's license; service as an air mail pilot; his travel across the United States; and the last chapter concerning his trans-Atlantic flight in May 1927. Notes by the publisher and author are at the end, followed by a section "A Little of What the World Thought of Lindbergh" by Fitzhugh Green. There are 48 black and white photographs with a list of these illustrations at the front. Aside from loose binding at the front; light foxing on some pages; minor surface soiling on the covers; and some fading of the gold lettering on the cover, the artifact is in good overall condition, though there are several torn pages within it.Lexicon
