Color: White
The wedding scrapbook of Gabriela and Thomas W. Temple II, 1938. The book has neutral-colored leather covers with a stylized square design at the center of the front cover and a brown cord binding in two grommeted holes. On the inside front cover is a silver wedding bell sticker. The first page has the wedding invitation and reception card beneath a colored pencil-drawing of wedding bells. The "title page" has colored pencil-drawing around and over a newspaper article photograph of the couple. At the top are the words: "EARLY CALIFORNIA ROMANCE FLOWERS IN MODERN TIMES" and at the bottom is "Their Book of CHERISHED MEMORIES." Around the article are color pencil-drawn wedding bells, ribbons, leaves and oranges and orange blossoms. The same article is on the next page with colored pencil detailing and there is a postcard of the Mission San Gabriel underneath. What follows are several pages of newspaper articles with some photographs of wedding coverage. Toward the back are two pages of birthday wishes for Gabriela Temple by friends, including a very fine pencil-drawing of the north side of the Mission San Gabriel. Further back is a register of participants in the Pioneer Reception for La Fiesta de San Gabriel, 1948 and greetings and comments for family events, such as Thomas' birthday in 1948 and 1953 and the Temples' 25th anniversary in 1963. Toward the back are many loose newspaper article, most covering Mission San Gabriel events. The book has discolored pages; cover surface staining and wear, and is in fair condition.
