Description

WEDGWOOD COMMEMORATIVE PLATE OF HARVARD LAW SCHOOL'S LANGDELL HALL, 1927 Color: Blue; White A Wedgwood commemorative plate of Langdell Hall at the Harvard University Law School, 1927. The artifact has a dark blue border, over which is an elaborate fruit-and-leaf design, including grapes and what seem to be apricots, as well as flowers. Toward the inner portion are white background sections and at the center is an image of the several-story brick building shown from a distance. Sidewalks, lawns, and a couple of trees are in the foreground landscape. On the center of the bottom of the plate is the inscription "HARVARD UNIVERSITY, 1927. / THE LAW SCHOOL. / LANGDELL HALL." Under this, in small letters, is "WEDGWOOD / ETRURIA / ENGLAND" with the logo of the importers, Jones, Duffield, and Stratton of Boston, to the right. Incised into the bottom are the Wedgwood name, the phrase "MADE IN / ENGLAND," and what seems to be a product number "N / 49D." Aside from some inherent flaws on the reverse, consisting of ink marks, the item is in good condition.
