"Wells' Illustrated National Handbook," (New York: John G. Wells, Publishing Agent), 1856. The reference work contains the texts of the Declaration of Independence; the Constitution; four addresses of George Washington; the Fugitive Slaw Law of 1850; the Kansas and Nebraska Act of 1854; and the Compromise of 1820. It also has census data, notes on elections from 1789 to 1854, material on state seals, biographical information on the presidents, vice-presidents and their administrations; platforms of the three political parties; and more. With edge rubbing and chipping on the spine of the boards, browning and light foxing on pages, and a slightly loose binding, the condition is fair.
