Description

WEST DOOR, NORTH PORCH OF THE WORKMAN HOUSE AFTER PLASTER STRIPPING Color: Brown; White A color polaroid photograph of the Workman House north porch west entrance, 15 August 1978. At the center is the door and frame, both stripped of paint and leaving a blotchy appearance to the door and much of the wood graining exposed on the frame. The wall surrounding the door has also been stripped of its plaster, leaving the bare outlines, especially on the left side, of the original plasterwork with the simulated granite blocks. At the top left corner of the door and at the bottom of the wall are some of the exposed bricks. A small portion of the porch floor is also at the bottom of the image. An ink inscription on the reverse reads "Workman Res. / North porch / west wall / prior to restoration / photo by archt 8/15/78." Below this is the stamp of restoration architect Raymond Girvigian with his name, address, and telephone number, covered by a piece of tape. Though there are ink stains on the left and right sides of the image, the artifact is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
